THE END OF THE SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP?
I am a bit of an Anglophile, and last year during the Iraq War I became a passionate Anglophile. But the shameful domestic reaction to the Iraq War has already discredited the British in my eyes. They don't care about Iraqi freedom. And they hate us; walk into a London bookstore (I did last February) and you'll figure that out pretty fast.
Will Blair fall? The press keeps talking about it, yet he holds on. But here's my question. In America, Blair is still widely seen as a hero. If Blair falls, and if his closeness to America is seen as the reason, will there be a backlash in opinion about Britain in the US? I for one hope so. The British have a positive image in the US that they don't deserve.
Looking further down the road, will Blair's fall be the end of the Special Relationship?
